Through new essays and extensive visual material, this monograph unfolds the works of Sophie Dupont (DK, b. 1975) and her investigations into breath, body, and presence.

The monograph brings together contributions by Sanne Kofod Olsen, Mathias Kryger, Anouska Ingerdahl Kobus, Vanini Belarmino, Alice Godwin, and Malthe Brændholt Sørensen, as well as an interview with the artist conducted by Julia Palmeirao. Together, these texts open up the work to questions of performativity, relational aesthetics, feminism, activism, phenomenology, and contemporary understandings of the body, sensation, and community.

"The breath contains everything: order, chaos, harmony, rebellion, sorrow, joy, humor, seriousness, anger. All of these emotions and inner moods are blended and expressed in our being through this tiny rhythm that comes and goes. A rhythm that is life. Life – keeping us afloat from our very first independent breath until our absolute last exhalation. – Sophie Dupont"

The book accompanies the exhibition project Sophie Dupont – BREATHE at Holstebro Kunstmuseum (February 7 to June 7, 2026) and Sorø Art Museum (July 3 to October 18, 2026).
